Depending on your location, FireFlow Services will come and pick up the damaged hose and return it to you after the repairs are completed. If you are outside our service area, we can assist you with shipping your hose to us, and once the repairs are complete, we'll ship it back to you.
Here is the process we follow for our fire hose repair and recoupling services:
We will carefully inspect and evaluate all hoses before beginning work, followed by a consultation with you. We'll assess the damaged section of hose, including verifying that both male and female threads meet specifications, making sure that the swivel gaskets are intact, and confirming that the swivel operates freely as intended. We'll provide you with a detailed quote before proceeding with any repairs.
We will cut out the damaged section of hose that we've identified, allowing for the reattachment of the couplings. From the repaired hose, we can create short lines, crosslays, and pony lengths to maintain functionality. When we cut the hose, you can trust that a razor-sharp cut is performed so that the seal is tight when the coupling is attached.
To preserve the coupling, we'll extract the old expansion ring and tail gasket from the coupling and install a new expansion ring and tail gasket. The placement of the expansion ring and tail gasket will be executed with perfect tolerance, adhering to the original manufacturer's specifications.
For hoses equipped with a Storz collar, the bolts will be tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. And if the stencil is cut during the repair, we will reapply the number.
We will perform testing on the fire hose after the repair has been completed, in accordance with NFPA 1962 standards.
